How Google plans to help consumers find better online deals

Google has announced a collection of new features that will be added to its Search page. These features are designed to make it easier to compare prices and help shoppers get better deals.

With the holiday shopping season underway, it’s hoped that the rollout of these new features will help online shoppers find cheaper products and better promotions.

The update includes three new additions to the Search feature. Here’s what consumers can expect:

1. Price Insights

The Price Insights feature is designed to help online shoppers compare the price of a product to other retailers. It will show whether the price is low, average, or high for each item. This will help consumers determine whether they are overpaying for a product or if they are getting a good deal.

2. Price Comparisons

This is another feature that will help shoppers look for the best price on a product. Instead of checking each retailer individually, Google will show a comparison for the specific item of prices from different stores. This should make online shopping quicker and easier.

3. New Coupons and Promotions

The final addition to Google Search is the “New Coupon and Promotion Labels”. This feature will automatically tag items that are on sale, helping to speed up the shopping process. Rather than needing to check each retailer’s website, shoppers can click on the promo to save it to their clipboard and paste it into the checkout page when finalizing a purchase.

When announcing the new updates, Shashi Thakur, vice president and general manager of consumer shopping at Google wrote: “The holiday season is upon us, and many are already getting into the (shopping) spirit. Deals are particularly top of mind this year: Among Americans planning to shop for the holidays, 43% are planning to look for deals and sales more than last year. So we’re sharing a few new features to help you easily find those discounts and get the perfect gift at the right price.”
