Uber announces its latest feature to help consumers save time

Imagine ordering something online, eagerly awaiting its delivery, only to discover it doesn’t fit, you no longer need it, or simply don’t want it.

Now you’re faced with the task of returning the package to the post office. For many, this step often slips their minds, leaving the package unreturned and money wasted.

Uber’s latest service eliminates the need for you to make a trip to the Post Office, UPS, or FedEx.This new feature from Uber aims to help you cross off a commonly overlooked task from your to-do list.

Uber’s latest addition can assist you in this dilemma. The ride-sharing giant now offers a convenient option for consumers to have their packages returned at local post offices, UPS, or FedEx locations. This streamlined process allows you to tick off a chore from your list and expedite your refund processing.

How does the new feature work?

This new functionality is integrated into Uber Connect, a service enabling consumers to send various items, including gifts and food, to friends, loved ones, or coworkers.

To take advantage of this feature, all you need to do is package the items you wish to return and have them ready for pickup by an Uber driver. Then, open either the Uber or Uber Eats app and select “Return a Package.” You can indicate whether you have a shipping label for the box or if you possess a QR code for the return that you’ll share with the driver.

Next, you’ll be prompted to specify where the items need to be returned. The Uber app allows you to select particular post offices, UPS, or FedEx locations for the return.

Once the delivery is confirmed, you can track the live dropoff of your package via the Uber app. Upon completion of the handoff, you’ll receive either a photo confirmation from your driver or a picture of the transaction receipt.

Availing of Uber’s Return a Package feature will incur a fee of $5 per trip for consumers. Uber One members enjoy savings on this feature, with transactions priced at $3 per trip.

Uber drivers can facilitate returns for up to five packages on each trip. The boxes should weigh less than 30 pounds, and the contents must be valued at under $100.

This new service is currently accessible through the Uber and Uber Eats apps in nearly 5,000 cities across the United States.
