Since the news that Bitcoin reached a record high of $60,000 for the first time, buying and selling cryptocurrency has become much more mainstream.
However, spending virtual currency can become a problem. Options are limited due to their volatility. Despite this, the number of companies willing to accept cryptos as payment for goods and services is growing. Here are some of the most well-known companies accepting them.
Lush was one of the first global companies to start accepting cryptocurrencies for purchases. It has allowed Bitcoin payments since 2017 on its website through its partnership with Bitpay.com.
Since the news that Tesla founder Elon Musk is investing $1.5 billion in Bitcoin in February, its value skyrocketed. The company also announced earlier in the year that it will accept the currency as payment for vehicle purchases in the US.
Microsoft is one of the world’s largest software companies. It also accepts Bitcoin payments for a number of its services, including Skype and Xbox Live.
Another company that now accepts Bitcoin is Starbucks. After a long trial, customers of the coffee chain can now use the Bakkt app to use the currency to pay for goods in stores.
Amazon is among a number of tech companies – including Facebook – to recently announce the launch of its own cryptocurrency. The company doesn’t currently accept cryptocurrencies, but you can buy Amazon vouchers via the crypto-only platform Bitrefill.
In March, Visa announced that it would be trying a new scheme with Crypto.com that would allow customers to use some cryptocurrencies on its payment network.
PayPal users in the US can now buy, sell, and hold some cryptos, including Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ethereum on the platform. This has recently been extended to the UK and PayPal says it might expand this to other countries in the future.
